GolfSense

If you’re thrilled that the snow melting and spring is on the horizon but your golf swing is something that depresses you, then you might be happy to know that help just might be on the way. GolfSense by Zepp Labs is a neat little lightweight 17 gram gadget that with the help of its companion app, captures your swing, analyzes it and offers guidance as to how you can improve your score.

What’s cool is that you don’t have to attach the device to your club. GolfSense attaches nicely to the Velcro strap of your glove by slipping it through the gadget’s belts on its underside. Its built-in precision motion engine sensor system captures and transmits swing data in real-time via Bluetooth to the app on your iOS (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad) or Android device.

GolfSense Screen

Specifically, GolfSense’s sensor, captures in-depth, many points of 3D motion. It’s then translated and the app provides analysis of acceleration, velocity, tempo, and position.  This includes, for example, hand speed as well as club head speed, backswing and even wrist and hip rotation. Through its analysis the app offers up comprehensive, yet easy to understand tips and recommendations on how you can improve on each swing so you can better your golf game.

The GolfSense Cloud allows you to store your captured data along with the ability to sync it with other devices.

I wonder if there is still hope for me? Old habits are hard to break. Like Happy Gilmore, I approach Golf more like Hockey with a little touch Baseball . On the other hand, it might be worth a try. I’m thinking as to how much money I could possibly save if I lose fewer golf balls.

GolfSense by Zepp Labs retails for $129.99. It comes in black or white and is available through the Apple Store or Amazon.  The companion apps are free for downloading. For iOS there are two separate apps; one for iPhone/iPod and the other for iPad. The Android version is available through Google Play.
